Thinking about stamps, when I should be working

Hay guy's I hope you are doing
good, I have had a busy day,
Work, Doctors I don't think
they will ever get tried of
poking me with those needles,

well tonight I wanted to show you
something I think that is a bit odd
look close at the photo it is not
A FDC, all tho it does look like
one when you first look at it.

What it is a Mint Stamp Display Card,
I got this one and other a little while
back, I had never seen any thing like
this till I found these one day,
there was 56 of them all together
that I found that day that I was looking
to spend some of my collect.

Now for last week's winners

In a post I did the other day
Making My Stamp Friends

understand our hoppie better.

the price of postage he will

Now he is not offtering it through
the Blog he if offering it in one
of the yahoo groups that we are
a member of together.

I have just got my very first copy
of linns news, give me a couple

of paper weight, and many types

And this is why I was upset when
I could not get a sheet of the
stamps from my post office.

U.S. TROOPS LAND AT NORMANDY

Perhaps at no other time is the
American flag recognized as an
inspiring symbol of freedom
than in war.

Since the Revolution, Old Glory has
proudly flown in battle, instilling
courage and pride in the hearts
of American troops who have
risked their lives for their country.

One of the most horrific battles ever
faced by U.S. armed forces happened
during World War II when Allied
forces invaded Normandy.

On June 6,1944-D-Day-some 5,000
ships carrying over 150,000 Allied
troops steamed across the
blustery English Channel toward the
forbidding beaches of Normandy.

Invasion forces included the
British-Canadian sector on Gold,
Juno and Sword beaches,
and the American sector on Utah
and Omaha beaches.

By dawn, U.S. infantrymen were wading
through chest-high water and clouds
of artillery smoke.

On Utah Beach, American troops
were accompanied by 33-ton Sherman
tanks that were floated ashore in
inflatable canvas covers.

To the relief of the Allies, there was
very little German opposition.

But on Omaha Beach, the U.S. V Corps
came up against the battle-hardened
German 352nd Infantry Division.

Most of the American tanks and artillery
never made it to the beach, sinking
in the choppy water.

Using only light weapons, infantrymen
were required to carry out a frontal
assault on heavily fortified
German positions.

By the end of the day,
despite the high number of casualties,
the Americans held a precarious
beachhead six miles long and less
than two miles deep a hold
they would not relinquish.

To honor the brave men who gave
their lives on that fateful day,
Old Glory proudly waves across
America every year on
June 6 in their memory.

Now something For a Buck!

Ok now for some stamps,
I got this S/S for One Dollar
yes folks just one buck
for those that don't know it
a buck is slang for $1.00

The sheet has eight stamps,
now I can't tell you where they
are from or I can't even tell
you the value of them.

But what I can tell you is that
they are of Locomotives,

"if you will click on the photo
it is a nice big size so you can
see the details of the sheet
maybe you will have a look
at the bigger size and tell me
where they are from and what
the value of them are.

Ok now this is where the

PHILATELIC CRAZY!

in me takes over, did I get
me moneys worth?

Before any one gives me you
thoughts witch I do want to
Hear, I have to say yes I
did get my moneys worth.

Why because I love stamps
that show World Transportation,
and there are eight stamps
the stamps show 10K
on each of them so If I think
about it this way 8 X 10¢
that would be 80¢
stamp value.

And to it is a S/S witch I just love
them Mint or used as long as
the sheet is intact, I got a nice used
one on a cover this past week I
will show it to you later this week
in one of my other post.

Ok guy's it now you turn to tell me
what do you think did I pay to much?

What is the catalogue value of them?
I do want to hear what your thoughts
are, and I will share with readers
if I found out where they come from.

that are not on the web site.

plus all the stuff they did not tell us

stamp is issued they tell about it in the
Bulletin and tell what philatelic products
available for that stamp issue:

And I have learned not to take that to
heart, because let the new catalog
come and you are sure to find
something that has not been told
that would be available.

Why oh why can't the catalog and the
web site work together I just don't
understand that at all.

I know it's a bit late at my post this
I had hoped to have it done sooner
I have been busy with answering
your email keep them coming.

I have all so pack and have ready
to send out in Mondays mail
18 envelopes so if you are looking
for some thins from me it's coming.

ok now to the Best two bucks I
have spend on my collect

so far.

for only $2.00 I got this
Surface Magnifier.

for any one here in the states
I found this at Roses
department store.

tomorrow I will show you what I can
do with a buck and yes there is where
the stamps come in and no I not talking
about going to the stamp shop and
looking though the $1.00 bin that I heard
about remember there are not stamps
shops close to where I live.

Making My Stamp Friends

he thought it would be a good

ideal to give your old copy of Linns

to your local postal window clerk.

I think this would be ok if one gets

a lot of books and papers to read

a collector I find this would be

hard to do for me as I would

want to keep them in my library.

New stamps to go large & Weekly Contest

New stamps to go large,
I have not seen to many really big stamps
ORDINARY first and second class
stamps are to get bigger for
the first time in 166 years
to go with the Royal Mail’s
new “large letter” post charge.

From August 21, costs will depend
on letter size, rather than just weight.

The new stamps are 1½ times wider
and marked “large” and will go on A4,
magazine-size envelopes.

Non-specialist stamps have been
the same size since the Penny Black
was introduced in 1840.

I can't wait to see some of them.

Super Heroes Stamp

Comic book covers and
their heroes honored

Ten comic book heroes will be honored
on the "DC Comics Super Heroes" stamp
sheet to be dedicated Thursday
July 20th in San Diego.

Half of the pane of 20 features portraits of
the characters, and the other half shows
individual comic book covers highlighting
the heroes' exploits.

The 10 super characters from DC Comics
depicted are Aquaman, Batman, The Flash,
Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Hawkman,
Plastic Man, Supergirl, Superman
and Wonder Woman.

Thursday's dedication ceremony will not
only be for the 39-cent commemoratives
but also for the set of 24-cent stamped
postal cards.

Thursday's ceremonies will take place
during Comic-Con International 2006
the world's largest comic book and
pop culture show.

DC Comics President and Publisher
Paul Levitz and some of the top comic
book artists are scheduled to take part.

They also will participate in a panel discussion
on the historical and cultural legacy
of DC Comics superheroes.

The stamps and stamped postal cards will
be available nationwide the next day, Friday.

Art director Carl T. Herrman of Carlsbad, Calif.,
worked with the creative staff at DC
Comics on the designs.

The new stamp sheet will mark Superman's
second appearance on U.S. postage.

The Man of Steel first was featured in 1998
as one in a series of events
marking the 1930s.

Superman also appeared on a Canadian

Let me ask you this do you think it is right
that they post office sells every stamp
they get in of a issue to one person?

And if that ant bad enough it was
Not just at one post office this person,
We will call them Wilson
went to every post office in our county
and the next county and bought every
sheet they had of the Birthday Stamps
that was Issued on June 23.

So in order for Wilson to do that
they had to visit every post office
in just two day's

So by the 26th there was no
Birthday stamps to be found.

Every post office I and others went to
or called they all told me the same
thing that Wilson had Came in and
bought every one they had.

So me and a couple of other collectors
was not able to get the stamps till July
13th and then we had to make a trip to
Tennessee to get the only five sheets
that the Robbins Post Office had left.

I guess you are wondering why this has
upset me so well for any one that does
there own First Day Cover knows that
you only have 30 day to mail your
stamped covers to the postmaster in
the city where the stamps was released.

they do look at the post marks to see when
it was put in to the mail system if the post
mark is 31 or 32 after the stamp was issued
there is these big chance that you will get
the covers back not severest.

I feel like that any body that is going to buy
that many stamps of a single issued
the postmaster should order them for the
person is stead of giving all of the first
shipment he gets of a stamp to them
I kind of think he is not think about the
collects in his community when he did
that know go and well that they collectors
would be in asking for them.

I would like to know what you think about
this should the postmaster think about
the collectors or should it be first come
first severed even if you are buying every
sheet he has got on hand and it will leave
not for collectors or any one else that wants
the stamps to use on there mailings.

should have ordered the stamps for Wilson
and let collectors and other have a chance
to get a sheet for there self.

Mary Seacole

Update of Maori Performing Arts non-issue

About the status of the stock All stock
that had been dispatched to PostShops

was recalled and has been returned.

Stock anticipated to be in circulation

over time In addition to samples that are

always kept on file for archival purposes,

and on the basis that our destruction

processes which are still
underway are completed as expected,
our reconciliation of all stock has shown
that eight orders to customers who had placed
casual orders for a variety of products,
including the Maori Performing Arts Stamps,
were fulfilled in error.

Forward requests for these eight orders
were processed and the mistake that occurred,
which enabled these orders to be supplied,
was due to human error.

Our processes have now been reviewed
and steps have been put in place
so that this error cannot occur again.

Along with the eight customer orders,
product was given to one of the Advisers
used in the creation of the product.

Additionally, we supplied 48 blank New Zealand
Post first day cover envelopes to some customers.

This is a normal practice in respect of these
customers who choose to take the blank
envelopes to their local PostShop on the
day of issue, purchase stamps of their choice
and have the issue cancelled at their local PostShop.
As is normal, these were sent well in advance
of the scheduled release for the series.

Therefore the product known to be
in circulation is as follows:

to, me I would have to say that I would
not send them back I order them and paid
for them it would not be my fault that they
are not going to issue that stamps now.

Australian Rock Posters Stamaps

This stamp issue looks at Australian

graphic design and its connection

with Australianpopular music.

The issue uses rock music posters from
the 1960s through to 2003

Rock posters as an art form really
evolved during the 1960s.

Don't know about you but
I am a child of the 60s
care for now I just might
let is slip that I just a old Fart
That love's his stamps.

The earliest poster featured
on these stamps,
Masters Apprentices from 1969,
is in the "psychedelic"

style popular at the time.

Iconic posters featuring in the issue
include Sunbury RockFestival (1972);
Rolling Stones Australian Tour (1973);
Midnight Oil and the Angels

/Sports/Paul Kelly (1979);
Goanna's Spirit of Place (1983);
Mental as Anything (1990);

May be when these stamps are issued
on the 12th of September 2006 one of
my good friends from down under will send
me the S/S HIT HIT :-) of crose I would

When FDR's Postmaster General

James A. Farley

proposed a stamp honoring baseball,

to coincide with the opening of

the Hall of Fame in 1939,

a nationwide poll of collectors voted
overwhelmingly against it.

They were over-ruled by stamp-collecting
President Roosevelt who

said through the nation's sports pages that
he wished \"every boy in America could get afirst-day cover

[stamped envelope mailed the day of issue]."

The post office at Cooperstown was swamped

with what were called "small boy orders,"

those arriving without the required

self-addressed envelope

plus three cents for the stamp.

Local postmaster Melvin Bundy honored

thousands of those requests out of his own pocket,

Are they Soccer or Football Stamps
well to me they are FOOTBALL stamp
yes ok I know that I live in the US and to
people that are in the US it is called
Soccer why do I call it Football well
growing up I watched a lot of sports
from the UK while my friends was
watching US sports and let me say
that I am so glad that I was the odd
sports watcher because I like the
sports that are on TV when there is
no NFL games on.

I was doing one of my many Google search
the other day looking for what else but some
stamps news when I came across the Canada
stamps no not Canada Postage stamps
I talking about the Calgary Stampeders

A Canadian football team that play using

me what to follow this team it must be football
season in Canada we sill have a little while to

I have not seen to many
but I cam across this set and I just love them

well here is a short update on my back I went
to the Doctor to day some good news then of
crose them bad news the good news is that I
can get out the bed for around four and a half
hours a day and the bad news was that I had
to go on some stronger Meds and I have to
go in to the office three times a week Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday to get to shoots
on those day I go to the doc's office.
Ok enough of that back to stamps

tell you about a book that I found that was issued

'Football through philately' book released

Kochi, June. 11: 'Football Through Philately',
a book with a unique collection of stamps depicting
the story of football in all its charm and glory,
especially the World Cup, was released here today.

Kerala Minister for Fisheries S Sarma,
released the book at a function got up at
the Ernakulam Press Club here.

An avid stamp collector for the past three decades,
Jose J Vattoth, an English teacher of
St Antony's High School, Vandanmedu in Kerala's
Idukki district is the author of the 128 page
English book, which is priced at Rs 100.

"The main purpose of this book is to show how
philately genuinely loves to promote the
beautiful game of football through stamps
and other philatelic materials', he said.

Football stamps dating to the first World Cup
Soccer tournament in 1930 are in
the thematic collection of Jose,

who turned to collection of football stamps
as a specialization in 1986,
during the time of the then World Cup.

Stamps illustrating the beautiful goals
netted by the legendary Pele, his 1000th goal
in an international football tournament on Nov 19,
1969 and Diego Maradona of Argentina are among
the 600 stamps in the book.

Besides, the book has write-ups,
including on the history of the origin of football
Association, FIFA, Errors on or football
stamps, stadiums and names of renowned
football players of the world.

Former Indian Football Captain and star striker
I M Vijayan had written the preface for
the book, published by Pen Books, Aluva.

What was once a children's hobby of collecting
and pasting stamps in a book can now be done
electronically in a computer only this is free,

where registrants can earn stamps with players'
pictures, stats and biographical detail,
trade them, and watch their collection grow.

"I'm 38, and I remember my Panini collection.

A Hillsborough church window link
to latest royal mail stamps
Iconic images of some of the UK's most
important historical personalities are
to grace the Royal Mail's latest series
of first-class stamps.

THE ABOVE IMAGE IS JUST A LIKES.
to be issued July 18, 2006

The images, depicting the likes of artist
Sir Joshua Reynolds, Winston Churchill,
Virginia Woolf and William Shakespeare,
mark the 150th birthday of the
National Portrait Gallery,
which hosts more than 9,000 portraits.

To launch the new stamps, Ulster postie
Liam Redman traveled to Hillsborough
to view the only church window in
Ireland based on a design by
Sir Joshua Reynolds.

Rev JF Dinnen,
Dean of Hillsborough Parish Church,
said the East Window is the only glass in
Ireland to feature such a design.

Royal Mail worked closely with the
National Portrait Gallery to select images
of 10 figures from different areas of UK life
embracing sculpture, watercolor,
oil painting and photography.

Further images in the first- class stamp
series are writer TS Elliott,
suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst,
Sir Walter Scott, Mary Seacole,

Hello all I though I would let you all

Know that I am back home and moving

slow these day's that Doctor has me on

bed rest again and let me tell you it is

not fun so I have had to make it fun

so yes for the past few day's I have

been sharing my Bed with my stamps.

at lest my collect in getting some much

needed time to get things in order.

No Stamp Just Bad Luck

Hello all I would like to say that I
have been so busy with work that
I have not hat the time to post
but that is not the case at all
Thanks to the old back I have
ended up back in the Hospital.

I have been here sence Wednesday
night not sure how long I will have to stay
this time either I sure hope that it is not
to long you know Doctors and Hospital
are ok just as long as I don't have to have
any thing to do with them and here lately
I have been having more then my share of
Doctors Visit and Hospital stay's.

Sorry I don't have any thing to show with
this post not so easy to have stamps with
one while in the Hospital .

Golden Rule of Stamp Trades

You know when I started out trading
my doubles in yahoo groups I wish
that I had know about some of these
simple rules witch I don't feel like that
they are unfair, they may seam unfair
to some and a bit over the top.

But this is coming from someone
that lost ever double that I had to
trade with in just a matter of a
couple of months and now I am
offering FDC for your used stamps

just so I can build a trading pill
back up because I miss trading
with the good trader that are to be
found in the groups.

I have started a list of good traders
as well as a Black Ball list if you
watch group messages you can find
where they was a member for a short
time till the got a few of the members
to send them stamps and after they
got the stamps from the members
then would leave that group.

only to join another groups and start
all over again with a new name
they can change the name you send
mail to, but something that's it's real hard
for them to change is there postal
address so by starting the black ball
list I save my self from loosing a big
set of FDC that I had all ready
fix up to put in the mail but one
member of the group seen us talk
about a trade, so he showed me where
this person was not to be trusted
they had took a lot of people in about
seven of the stamp groups.

The same person I was ready to mail
a set of $45 Lunar New Year FDC
out to so I ask about all the messages
in the groups about them and showed them
the groups messages and still offered
to do the trade if they would send first.

I never heard any thing back from
them so that just showed me that they
was truth in the groups messages
if they had of been false you would
think they would want to set the
record straight.

So here is some simply rules
that should help out with many
happy trades.

A Few good rules for happy stamp
exchanges What to do before?

Define the trade : quality, definitive,
commemoratives, used, mint,
CTO, topical, country, price,

Specify before if you send or accept
duplicates Do you accept CTO ?
Canceled To Order :
very beautiful stamps for
commercial use only
Cheaters are mostly acting at
the first trade :
so consider first package
as a test only.
Don't accept too interesting trade
quickly, this may be suspect.

Avoid to send more than 50
stamps in the first package.

Avoid to send high-value
stamps in the first package.

Trick : Avoid to send first
if someone contacts you first.
The one who contacts first,
sends first.

Trick : Accept to send more
than initial trade if the other
sends first (60 for 50)
And Send only what you would
be happy to receive.

Do you have a little doubt ?
Don’t trade high-value stamps
Do you have a little doubt ?

person on the net before

Generally when someone gives his
postal address, this person
agrees the trade.
Who is this stamp trader?
When you are in contact with a new stamp
trader you never know who is this person.

of past traders as reference.

to give out there email address as a trader

What's about the Postal service?

If you don't send by registered letter,
accept letters to be lost or stolen
sometimes And when mailing out side
the US Registered or tracking don't
coast that much better safe then sorry.

Give a good protection to your stamps,
cardboard is the best.

What is a normal trade agreement?
Golden Rule :In any case if you are not
satisfied some trade could be cancelled :
"I don’t accept your stamps please
send mine back please"

Stamps must be in perfect condition :
no transparency, no tearing off,
no coloring, no fold.

Defective stamps should be returned
and exchanged if possible,
without discussion as a quality warranty.

Accept that stamps could be lost
on the way and never arrived if you
don't have some type of tracking.

Important: Always be polite.
A Gentleman agreement
is always possible.

You can use a scanner
for your stamp.

For high values scan
each side of stamps.

What to do after?

When stamps arrive (99% of trades),
confirm it by a mail, give a feedback
about received stamps.
Most of stamp cheaters are famous
and mostly already identified on
a stamp black list, start you own
as well and any time you see a bad
trader from a group but them in your
list .
If you are cheated, don’t hesitate to
ask assistance in the groups.

This can help.Send a complaint to the
post office of the cheater.
Send a complaint to all the
philatelic sites you can find.

would not even brother to collect

news letter & membership for a year.

then you have another $20 for the news
letter & membership for the A.P.S.
for a year.

then another $20 for news letter &
membership for the F.D.C.S.
for a year.

then you have around $30 bucks for
the Scott stamp Monthly for a year.

and how can one for get about linns
Stamp News that is around $50 a year.

All so we can't forget the catalogs
that one does need to help them
out with there stamps some like
Scott some like Michael's
and just the Scott US catalog is
close to $60 and the whole set
is something like $280.00

and let me tell you right now I am
learning that one does need some
type of World Wide Catalog sooner
or later just so you your self can get
a ideal of the value of a stamp.

Now you have spend out all that money
just so you can be informed and find
out about stamps well now you want
to take you collect to the next step
and put it in a album and they got you
here as well the price of a starter album
can be as low as $50 in to Hundred's of
Dollars just to get you started with a
nice album and you would think with
one paying so much for it, you would
not have to buy any things else for it
well guess what you have to buy yearly
updates for it and that is all so a nice
hunk of change.

Gibraltar Stamp & A NEW RELEASE

Europa 2006 “Integration of Immigrants
as seen by young people”

the new Europa 2006 stamps
“Integration of Immigrants
as seen by Young people”
will be released on
the 30th June 2006

Once again the Gibraltar Philatelic
Bureau has adhered to the motto
“innovation, not imitation” and
therefore commissioned a US artist
for this special set.

The illustrations were produced in clay,
then painted and finally photographed
to go onto the stamps.
The idea was to show children from
different races and religions playing
and enjoying each other’s company.

The stamps are in fact an allegory
of the racial and religious harmony
enjoyed in Gibraltar.

The 30,000 people who live and work
in Gibraltar encompass all the
world’s major races and religions.

It is no coincidence the illustrations
we made out of clay.

Clay is an earthy material employed
by ancient civilisations and certainly
by every culture we want to focus
upon in this issue, thus we felt
it was the perfect way to bring
originality and innovation as far
as stamp design goes,
plus a way to find this very subtle
common link between cultures.

I have not seen to many stamps
from Gibraltar so when ever I
find one I hold on to it for some
reason there stamps kind of
reminded me of GB stamps
I bet I will make some one upset
that I have said that.

Put it I get a world wide mix of stamps
I pour them out on to the desk and
start picking out the ones I want to
keep and add to my collect.

And I all ways hope to find some GB
then the next country that I collect
witch is Gibraltar because is show's
in there stamps that they do care
about what they isssue I feel like
that Gibraltar but a lot of though in to
the stamps that they do Issue a stamps
that means something,

Gibraltar takes pride in the stamps
that they do issue may be that is why
they don't release more then they
do in a year because they do care

I Sold It All

Hello All I hope you are finding
time for stamping as I told
early in the week I am off work
this week thanks to the Doctor's.

So what have I been up to you
might ask well sence Saturday
I have been going through the
house and gather up every
things that I had in my Collect
getting it all together in just
one room and let me tell
you it was not a easy job to
gather up every piece that
spades almost 15 years of
collecting every piece that I
had and let me say that is sure
made a lot of room on my
book shelves, that now look
so bare with out the collect.

Well after I got it all together
what did I do with it you are
wondering I sold it every piece
that I had all at one time.

ok don't worry I not talking about
my stamps I sold off my Coke~Cola
collect there was any thing and every
thing you could think of that was Coke
or had any thing to do with Coke~Cola
I made a fellow collector very happy
yesterday when I sold it all to him in one
big lot at a good price.

There was a couple of reason I sold it all
1. I will tell you the number on reason a
little later on
2. I can take that money now and put it
in to what else of Crosse that would be
Stamps and stuff that I want to add
to my stamp collect.
and then the number 3 reason I will tell
you later on when the time is right.

So please for give me but I just had to
share this with some one just like I am
sharing the above cover with you all.
Witch I think is the ugliest stamps I have
seen this year so far.

Good Day all I have missed
a lot of work this week but
it has not been for
stamps I sure wish it would
have been may be I would
not be is so much pain from
the old back.

I know I had promised to show
some of the covers I did for
666 but I thought I would show
this one for now I got it from
a good friend in Australia
whit a nice surprise in side
a nice cover I will show you
on another post and that's not all
just the day be for the big dooms
day 666 on 05-06-06 he fix up
a packages and mail it on the 5th
so the one he mail on the 5th
and 6th came on the same day
the 13th and let me just say that
you so because they come on
the 13th in no way was there any
thing bad in side but a lot of
the good stuff you know stamps
and Covers some thing to keep
me happy for a little while.

Noticed the stamp on the 666
cover it is for the world Cup
Sad to say so far the USA had
let me down so far but it not all
over just yet come on go
U.S.A.

world cup trivia I still am going
through the email no joke I got

Five Year Old Letter and a FDC

Good evening all I hope
you had a good day and
found some time for stamps.

We found when I say we I
meaning my sister witch who
is by the way my best friend
in life even tho we have another
brother & sister we are the
youngest of four and very
close have to be been you
work and live together.

Tracy and my brother in law
was cleaning up the Z71 today
getting it ready for a bit of summer
driving being a class it don't get
drive a hole lot and the last time
it was drove so much was when
Daddy was going to Oakridge and
Knoxville for his cancer treatment
so he could lay down oh the way
home after the treatments.

So while going back and forth to the
Doctors we must have stopped and
got the mail from the post office
Box and got the mail and it being
only one piece just had forget got
about it because at the time I had
a lot of other more things to think
about then mail I was loosing
someone very close to me.

So today that letter finely got opened
After all most five year Tracy was
the one that found it in the truck
and as soon as she see the
package she knew right away what
was in side as I did to.

It was the above FDC witch at first
I was over joy'ed I though on great
a new FDC till I look at the Date stamp
on the cover June 25, 1999.
it was issued on Friday after
Fathers Day.

to me what I remember the most
about 1999 was that I was going
to lose my father and for us
Father Day was a big deal for us
so today when I seen it I was happy
and all so cried at the same time
because June was when we would
do something special for him.

not that we did not do other special
thing for him during the year but
fathers day was the one time a year
that he knew he could ask us for
any thing and me and my sister
would have moved a mountain for
him or he was sure getting that
High Dollar toy or tool that he
wanted a lot of feels from one
cover who knew.

So I want to ask for help from you
and have tried to do a bit harder
trivia for tonight.

Still No Mail For Me

People I telling you all
this waiting on the mail man
is making me a old Gary hair
man I am still waiting on that
shipment from the U.S.F.D.C.
and then I got word that I should

on December 26, 2003,

The Day After 6-6-6

Good evening all well
it's the day after 06-06-06
and I still feel like I am
living a nightmare

666 was a 24 hour work
day for me so it started
for me on the 5th and did
not end for me till 2:00 A.M.
on 06-07-06 and I only
managed get one email done
yesterday in my free time.

I did get to make it to the post
office to get the big 666 post
mark 25 minutes be for they
was to close I will tell you all
about that in another post when
I show one of those covers
I had done.

there was on big thing about
yesterday that did brother be
and a few others about yesterday
you heard more about 666
on the news the morning
TV shows and if that was
not bad enough most people
get not get pass the 666.

There was one placed that I did
stop in for a meeting that
they knew for sure what day it
was, to them and me and
so many others it was
June the 6th (D-Day) and that
meeting was at the VFW

So the guy's and me had six
pints each of beer now
any thing stronger I would not
had got any work done at all.

nice easy going day for me
soon turned in to a day of me
being on the phone just about

NZ Post decides not to issue Maori Performing Arts stamps

New Zealand Post has
decided not to release
the Maori Performing Arts
stamp issue.

that was to be released
on June 7,2006

This decision follows consultation
with a range of Maori arts
and culture communities
over the past week.

Some concerns about the
design style of the stamp
were raised with
New Zealand Post
when they first promoted
the stamp issue.
Consequently,
They sought additional advice
and They concluded that
the stamps would cause
offence to some people.

At New Zealand Post our
intention is that
New Zealand Post postage
stamps carry images that
celebrate aspects of
New Zealand life and culture
and can be proudly sent
round the world.

they will create a stamp issue
that celebrates kapa haka
in the future and will provide
information about this
issue closer to the time.

As the stamps have not been
released the stock is accounted
for and will be destroyed
according to
New Zealand Post's
processes.

The six diplomats on the new
stamps include Frances E. Willis,
the first U.S. woman to achieve
the title of Career Ambassador;

a Lebanese-American
whose service included being
Ambassador to South Korea
and UnderSecretary of

First American to Orbit the Earth

an Atlas rocket lifted off
from the launch pad at
Cape Canaveral, carrying
the small Friendship 7
capsule toward the heavens.

Inside sat an American
that NASA determined had
the "right stuff" astronaut
John Glenn,
a veteran combat flyer in
World War II and
the Korean War.

Friendship 7, with the
American flag proudly
painted on the silvery hull,
soon reached its fixed orbit
162 miles above the
Earth's surface.

Beneath the spacecraft,
the Earth turned on its axis

is Dr. Michael Dixon.

Dr. Dixon has international exhibitor

experience as a judge and was an

instrumental member of

U.S. Commissioner to other

high profile shows.

Colonel Stephen Luster.

Also a judge and international exhibitor,

Steve is best known for his

The 2006 World Philatelic Exhibition

will be held in Washington, DC

Convention Center.

Washington 2006 will occupy the

lowest level and the meeting rooms

one level above, totaling more

A total of 3,800 display frames will

the British Caribbean will be

featured from the Royal Philatelic

Collection of Her Majesty

Queen Elizabeth II.

The collection was started in the

The Bourse (Stamp Dealers' Area)

Booth 2034 In addition to the exhibits,

"Washington 2006 will use

this exhibition as an educational

The Philatelic Bureau of the

Bermuda Post Office will be

in attendance to launch a new

stamp and souvenir sheet in

commemoration of this event.

The Washington 2006 logo will

be displayed on the souvenir sheet

and the gutter of the sheets of stamps.

The stamp showcases a map

called, "A New and Accurate Map

of the Bermudas or Summer Islands".

Emmanuel Bowen created the map in 1747.

It was engraved by W. Innys,

published in London and

measured 44 x 35.5 cm.

It is part of the Duperreault

Bermuda Map Collection donated

Hello all I hope that you
are enjoying stamping.
The above stamps will
be Issued on Friday may
the 27th it is another set
that one can pick up in
Washington at the Stamp
Expo I would have loved
to went to this but folks
I just learned about this
stamp show last winter.

Now I know some of you
are wonder just how could
I not have know about it
sooner well that is easy
I think because it was not
till last fall that I started
giving more time to my
collecting and learning
more about them all so it
did not take me to long to
learn about bad traders.

It did not take me to long to
lose all of my doubles that I
had to trade on with others.
you know I would give stamps
to the one that don't have some
thing to trade on because we all
have to start somewhere.
all they would have to do was
just ask and I would have tried
to help them out with some stamp
from the US.

As of 26 May, the Åland Post offers

stamps. A minimum order is three
booklets. Read more about this
new item on there homepage and
in the folder enclosed with the
previous press releases
from the Åland Post.

The Post will have its own motif
for the 'My stamps' issue,
a little girl posting her letter
in one of the Post's new
letter boxes.

them but I can't I have tryed
to find more info for you but
had not luck with that.

I was in hope's that I could

or may be just find out more

THE BIG SHOW

What's up with that the
above cover I fix up
and sent it out in the
mail wanting to get the
post marks on it for a
couple of reason one I
wanted to get a date on it
that way it would show what
year that my nice finished
school, and then I just wanted
to see where it got it canceled
mailing it back to my self.

the only way that I know that
if has been through the mail
system is that it now IT has
those little bar codes that get
on a letter as it does go through
the mail system.

I sure you are wounding about
the Big Show well this week
the big stamp show will open
in Washington, DC
The US is releasing stamps
for the show as well as a lot
of other countries do you
know of a issue that will
be released for the show.

Hidden Stamp Images

The other day Michael was

talking about the above

stamps so I thought

I would do a detail

list of the stamps.

Since 1997, the United

States Postal Service has

placed hidden images on

select commemorative stamps.

but you'll never see them

with a magnifier.

That's because the images

are only viewable using

a special "stamp decoder."

This decoder is made from

"nearly a thousand tiny

elongated lenses

called "lenticules."

To view the hidden images

you simply place the decoder

over the stamp and like magic,

they pop out of the design.

All the stamps listed below

have hidden images.

Each description tells you

what image to look for.

What you will see with the

decoder is in red

You probably already have

some of these stamps

in your collection.

The images serve two purposes:

to entertain collectors and

to act as a

counterfeiting deterrent.

You'll find they're great fun.

And without the decoder,

you're really not fully

Traditional Maori Performing Arts;
kapa haka is a growing part
of Maori culture.
Ranging from the haka (war dance)
to the more peaceful
waiata-a-ringa action songs,
using the Poi, Patu or Taiaha,
kapa haka affirms Maori identity
for those immersed in their
cultural roots, and those
who wish to return and
be a part of these
historical performances.

Kapa haka has been a
strong spiritual and cultural
part of Maori tradition.
Kapa haka is unique as
performers sing, dance and
coordinate expression and
movement into each dance.

Each action is deliberate
and links to the words sung.
The strong vocals providing
the music is unlike many cultures.
Beautiful harmonies and carefully
executed body language
combined produce
a clear and
vibrant performance.

Poi - 45c

The poi, if used by an
experienced performer,
are manipulated and twirled
to the music and song
of many performances.
It is believed that the poi
has been a means of training
warriors to strengthen
their wrists.
During performances however,
it is the women who use
the long or short poi either
singularly, doubly or in
a quad formation.
The long poi is mainly
used for spinning
movements and actions.
The short poi was
used for flicking,
catching and slapping
movements to mark
a rhythm of a song.

Taiaha - 90c

The taiaha is a long staff
measuring up to 1.5m in length.
It has a carved face with
an arero (tongue) on
the end of it,
often incorporating ornate carvings,
feathers or paua shell.
A work of art as well as
a weapon, this spear is
used in the kapa haka.

Pukana - $1.35

The pukana, or widening of
the eyes, is part of the
performance usually linked
to wiri, or shaking of the hands.
These expressions are used
at various times in the
performance to reinforce meaning
and add force to the words.
Pukana is described as
the innermost expression of
wairua (soul) being released.

Patu - $1.50

The patu, mere, or short club,
is popular for female performers
in kapa haka.
The mere symbolises the
facing and overcoming
of life's challenges
and difficulties.

Haka - $2.00

The haka can be performed
with or without weapons,
and this stamp image shows
the haka with precise
choreographed actions.
From pre-European times,
the haka was performed
without weapons,
but with well defined actions.
Following the First World War
the haka developed in vibrant
and vigorous forms,
used to express many private
or public sentiments.

maternal majesty and
a loving dedication
to her people.

For many people
around the world
The Queen Mother
is best remembered
for how, during the
darkest nights of
the Blitz, she
courageously stayed
on in Buckingham Palace .

braving repeated onslaughts
by Hitler's dreaded
Luftwaffe ... providing
a steadfast beacon of
courage for her people
during their finest hour.

Over the years,
she has shed daylight
on the sometimes
daunting mystique of
the Royal Family.

Dubbed "instant sunshine"
by a friend, her gentle
and perceptive wit and
her generous spirit have
endeared her to a nation.

So much so, in fact,
one commonwealth country
requested she pay them
a visit simply
"because she is so nice."

To celebrate the
Queen Mother's
90th Birthday, in 1990,

One of the most renown

mother/child painters of

all times is the American artist
Mary Cassatt (1845-1926),
who was the only foreigner to be
admitted into the

Impressionist group
of painters in Paris at the
beginning of the 20th century.

The artwork of Mary Cassatt
was chosen for this third issuance
in the American Treasures series.
Known especially for her figure studies
and engaging portrayals of
mothers and children,
Mary Cassatt was the only

The four works of art appearing
on the stamps are:
"Young Mother" (1888),

"Children Playing on the Beach" (1884),

Julia Ward Howe
(May 27, 1819 – October 17, 1910)

In the United States Mother's Day
was first suggested in 1872 by
Julia Ward Howe
"who wrote the words to the
Battle hymn of the Republic"
As a day dedicated to peace.
Ms. Howe would hold organized
Mother's Day meetings
in Boston, Mass.,
every year.

Mrs. Anna Maria Reeves Jarvis
(September 30, 1832 - May 9, 1905)

It was, however,
Mrs. Anna Maria Reeves Jarvis'
work with women's organizations
that inspired the creation of
Mother's Day as a national holiday.
She was born in Culpeper, Virginia,
on September 30, 1832,
the daughter of the

Rev. Josiah W. and Nancy Kemper Reeves.
The family moved to Barbour County in
present-day West Virginia when the Rev. Reeves
was transferred to a Methodist church in Philippi.
In 1852, Anna married Granville E. Jarvis,
the son of a Philippi Baptist minister.

Two years later, Granville and Anna Jarvis
moved to nearby Webster in Taylor County.

In 1907 Anna Maria's daughter,
Anna Jarvis, began a campaign to
establish a national Mother's Day.
Ms. Jarvis persuaded her mother's
church in Grafton, West Virginia

on the second anniversary
of her mother's death,
the 2nd Sunday of May
(May 12, 1907)
By the next year Mother's Day
was also celebrated in Philadelphia.

Ms. Jarvis and her supporters began
to write to ministers, businessmen,
and politicians in their quest to
establish a national Mother's Day.

It was successful as by 1911
Mother's Day was celebrated
in almost every state.

Woodrow Wilson
(president 1913-1921)

proclaiming Mother's Day

Roosevelt's original sketch for the

In 1933 Mrs. H. H. McCluer,

the American War Mothers,
conceived the idea of issuing
a special stamp for use in conjunction
with Mother's Day mail.
She met with Roosevelt on
January 25, 1934.

Known to be a devoted son,
the president granted her
request three weeks later.

Twice The Size Of Regular Stamp

The painting was made during
the period 1867-72,
and measures 144 x 162 cm.
It belongs to Musée d'Orsay, Paris, France.

On Mothers' Day the picture which Whistler called

will go into almost every home in America
in the form of three-cent postage stamps.
The reproductions of James Abbot McNeil Whistler's
greatest work will be about twice the
size of stamps now in circulation,
large enough to portray the reverence
and the calm beauty with which
the artist endowed his parent.

The selection of Whistler's mother for
the stamp is considered a happy
one from every standpoint.
The picture shows the elderly woman
in lace cap and dark dress,
sitting in a contemplative mood.
Mrs. Whistler was a strongly religious woman.
Her son was a sprightly Bohemian,
friend of Oscar Wilde and one of
the gayest of the gay nineties' celebrities.

He reveals in his portrait of his mother,
A deep love and respect for her.

WHO ORIGINATED‘MOTHERS' DAY'?
A MILWAUKEE WOMAN HAS PROOF THAT
HER AUNT BEAT MISS JARVIS TO PLAN
When 200,000,000 copies of Whistler's portrait
of his mother roll off government presses
in the form of Mothers' Day stamps
the public will think of Anna Jarvis,
Philadelphia woman who got Congress in 1914
to pass a resolution calling for
a national Mothers' Day,
as found of the holiday.

But at the Jefferson School, Wauwatosa,
pupils will honor Mary Towles Sasseen Wilson
as the original creator and promoter of
Mothers' Day.
Mrs. Wilson was the aunt of
Mrs. Reuben Greene,
826 N. Seventieth Street,
mother of 8-year-old Weyler Greene,
a third grade pupil of the school who
has copyrighted proof that his kinswoman
conceived the idea of honoring mothers 1
3 years before Miss Jarvis
launched her campaign.

The Friday before Mothers' Day, Weyler's class
will dress up in costumes of the early
nineties and give a program including
quotations and verses from a booklet published
by Mrs. Wilson, then Mary Sasseen, in 1893.

The idea of Mothers' Day as a national celebration
was conceived by the aunt of Mrs. Greene
and carried to fulfillment by the Philadelphia woman.
The first promoter for Mothers' Day was
a school teacher of Henderson, Kentucky,
later the wife of Judge Marshall Wilson
of Florida, and the sister of
Mrs. Greene's mother.
After Mothers' Day had been adopted
by the Kentucky Legislature,
due to Miss Sasseen's efforts,
and schools in Ohio,
including those of Springfield,
had made it an institution,
Mary Towles Sasseen Wilson died (1906)
and Anna Jarvis, a Philadelphia
Sunday school teacher,
took up the work of making it
a day of honor for mothers in all states.
The originator of the idea of Mothers' Day,
according to her niece, Mrs. Greene,
was an attractive, auburn haired woman
who was devoted to her school work and
to her mother, grandmother of
the Wauwatosa mother.

Mrs. Greene has two sons,
Weyler, 8, and Billy, 13.
Mary Sasseen was born and reared in
the beautiful little city of Henderson, Kentucky,
on the south bank of the Ohio River.
Henderson with a population of about 15,000
still remembers the woman who contended
that once a year children of the nation,
juveniles and adults,
ought to honor their mothers.
She instituted the first Mothers' Day
on April 20, 1893,
the birthday of her mother

Kentucky Was First

Miss Sasseen published a pamphlet in 1893
outlining her ideas of commemorating
the tender ties of motherhood and bestowing
a tribute of honor to the mothers of the land.
The book was copyrighted that year.
She traveled extensively and addressed
educational societies and other organizations
in various parts of the country in her effort to
have the observance of Mother's Day
nationally recognized and adopted.
The Kentucky Legislature adopted the idea first,
and in 1894 through her efforts the day was formally
celebrated in all the public schools of Springfield, Ohio.
In 1899 Miss Sasseen was a candidate for
superintendent of public instruction of Kentucky,
and it was generally discussed over the state
that she had first conceived the plan of
celebrating Mother's Day.

Miss Sasseen came of a
distinguished family of Kentucky.
She was a granddaughter of
Judge Thomas Towles,
a noted jurist of his day,
and her ancestors were all of
Revolutionary stock.
In 1900 she married Judge Wilson
and left Henderson to make her
home in Florida.
She died there in childbirth.

A year later in 1907 was

when Miss Anna Jarvis
invited a friend to spend

the second Sunday in May
with her to commemorate
the anniversary of

her mother’s death.
On that occasion Jarvis

announced her plan
for the national observance

of Mother’s Day.

Well just a short note
tonight I have had a ruff
day the best part about
the day was when the
mail run and I got some
new covers that I was
looking for I will share
them with you in a later
post tonight I showing

some more stamps
from New Zealand.

New Zealand was an early
and enthusiastic supporter
of the concept and spirit
of the Olympic Games
and have participated at
all Olympics since the 1920
Antwerp event.

However, in 1908 two
New Zealanders were
members of a joint team
with Australia at
White City, London.

New Zealand has competed
at all subsequent games,
often with particular distinction
for a country with such
a small population.

Even at boycott-hit Moscow
in 1980 the New Zealand
Olympic and
Commonwealth Games
flag flew as canoeing
and modern pentathlon
sportsmen defied the
government's wishes and
participated.

And despite overpowering
Northern Hemisphere
competition and the lack
of any success to
nourish ambition,
small New Zealand teams
have also competed at all
Olympic Winter Games
since 1952.

These four stamps contain
the usual surcharge which
is used to assist the funding of
New Zealand's
Children's Health Camps.

and just one week
later the movie

was released.

Well in June on the 20th

will be released.

Then just one month to
the day on July the 20th
The US will issued
The DC Comic Book
Heroestwenty designs.

My self I wonder may be
if timing has any the to do
with each other be released
this way.

I know they have been TV
cartoons on stamps but has
there every been another
issued of Comic Book
Heroes on stamps.

Well after months of doing
the approval severs I not
to happy with them and
have deiced that they only
thing that is good about them
is that you get a chance to
see world wide stamps.

I have sent more back then
I have bought from them
one reason is that they
are some what higher in
price but you are left out in
the dark because some
of the dealers just send you
what ever in hope's that
one will buy them in stead
of sending them back.

I have even tryed giving the
dealers a details list of topic
and things I would like to see
and still some just send what
ever so for the very reason
I have stop most of them.

I do how ever think approval
is good for any body that is
not sure what they would
like to add to there collect.

because it does let you see
new things that you might not
have know about.

I would like to hear about
your story dealing with
approvals.

Boy how I miss posting
But to tell you the truth
I have not been able to do
much of any thing lately
with my back being mess up
and then those drugs that they
have got me on for the pain.

I take it three times a day
and let me say that when you
take a dose of it.
It's not to long be for I am
no good for any thing but
the bed and lot's of
bed rest is just what the
Doctor ordered if I am to
Keep from having
Back Sugary :-(

ok enough about my no
luck right now.

I did have some good
PHILATELIC luck the other
day I got some 1988 stamp
pack at a great price and would
you be leave I did not buy the
at auction I got them right from
the dealer at a steal.

The above stamps is from one
of the packs.

The two stamps mark 100 years
of organised philately in
New Zealand and the centenary
of the Royal Philatelic Society
of New Zealand.

With 450 members the society
is affiliated to the country's
national philatelic body,
the New Zealand Philatelic Federation.
Allan Mitchell designed the
40 cent stamps and
Maurice Conly and Marcel Stanley
the miniature sheet.

Marcel Stanley's participation
was fitting because he is
the current president of
the Royal Philatelic Society
of New Zealand
and a world authority on
New Zealand's
"full face queens"
also known as
"Chalon Heads".

I don't know much about
Chalon Heads but I can tell you
when you can find out.

The grace and beauty of the Mute Swan
has enchanted man for centuries.
Gliding across crystal waters with its
long neck he]d in a graceful curve,
this elegant swan arches its ivory wings
over its back like a feathered sail.

As this ornamental swan swims
through the water, it will, from time
to time plunge its head and neck
below the surface, nibble on tender
aquatic plants, and then suddenly
raise up, tossing back a shower of
crystal droplets onto its
snow-white plumage.

Captivated by this bird's
magnificent beauty, the
Chinese partially domesticated
the Mute Swan to decorate the
parks and estates of China.

Truly the picture of beauty and
elegance, this majestic Swan
glides across the waterwaysof

China in noble silence.

These beautiful birds are often seen
swimming in pairs for they select
a mate for life.

The male is fiercely protective of
his mate and the nesting site

Did You Know Stamp Collectors

Kept the Graf Zeppelin Afloat?

Before airplanes became practical,
Giant, lighter-than-air craft known as
Dirigibles ruled the sky.
And the king of all dirigibles was
The Mighty Graf Zeppelin – LZ 127.

Named after its designer,
Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin,
The Graf
(which means “Count” in German)
was an aluminum-framed,
lighter-than-air ship.
It was 776 feet long and had a
maximum diameter of 100 feet.

The craft was filled with hydrogen
Gas which filled 17 cells.
Five powerful Maybach motors
Gave it power.

This engineering marvel could
Fly at over 70 miles per hour
And was the only such
Airship to circle the earth.

This airship and its history are
Especially important to us
Stamp collectors,
as The Graf Zeppelin resulted
in the creation of four of
America’s most prominent stamps.

The Graf Zeppelin issue #C13-15,
and #C18, Affectionately known
to collectors as the “Baby Zep,”
wouldn’t exist without
this technological wonder.

But, what many collectors
may not know is that these historic
U.S. stamps were absolutely essential
to the financial success of
the Graf flights.
In fact, the flights wouldn’t
have happened without them.

U.S. Stamps Were Key to the
Zeppelin’s Financial Success!

Some flights were financed wholly
by the money derived from
stamp collectors.
Stamps were absolutely essential
to the Graf Zeppelin’s
financial success.

Here’s a quote from Dr. Hugo Eckener,
the legendary commander of the Graf:

“How could we finance this flight?
Not an easy problem to solve.

We could carry about 200 kg mail.
I put my hope in the philatelists,

who had contributed so much
to the round-the-world flight....”

Dr. Eckener was referring to the
Historic 1929 global flight.
It turns out stamp collectors
Contributed about $115,000.00
To The Flight’s Finances.
And 75% of that money –
About $86,250.00 –
Came from American collectors.

Here’s the Little-known Story
Behind the Issue #C13-15...

A Postmaster General’s
Stamp-Collecting Wife
Made It Happen!

The Graf depended on
the support of
stamp collectors.

So six weeks before the
1930 Europe-Pan American
flight took place,
Dr. Eckener requested that
the U.S. issue stamps supporting
the Zeppelin’s flight.
Unfortunately,
It was too late
To plan such an issue.

What happens next
Is the really neat part.

Postmaster General
Walter F. Brown heard of
Dr. Eckener’s predicament.
The Postmaster General
then went home and
told his wife,
Mrs. Brown, about it. Mrs.
Brown was a stamp collector
and specifically, a Zeppelin fan.

Upon hearing the news Mrs. Brown
said, “Dr. Eckener has to
have his stamps!
That ought to be possible!”
Apparently she had Mr. Brown’s
ear because the U.S.
issued the set of three
Graf Zeppelin airmails
(U.S. #C13-15)

This a amazing –
if the Postmaster General’s
wife hadn’t been a
stamp collector,
we probably wouldn’t have
the Graf Zeppelin stamps today!

U.S. philatelic mail brought
the Zeppelin Company
more than $100,000.00.

It was a major factor in financing
the flight. Records show that U.S.
collectors provided about 50%
of the total amount of postal
money raised worldwide for
the 1930 Pan-American flight.

Now you may be wondering how
the Zeppelin Company actually
got the money which was paid to
the U.S. Post Office.
The answer is simple:
the Post Office forwarded
every single penny
of the money collected!

The 1933 Century of
Progress Flight
Wouldn’t Have Happened
Without #C18!

The relationship between the
Zeppelin’s flight to the 1933
Century of Progress flight,
#C18 and collector mail
is even more direct.

Dr. Eckener said the Zeppelin
would make the trip under
two conditions.

One, they needed a formal invitation
from the World’s Fair.

Second, they needed assurance
of an
American commemorative
Zeppelin stamp.

This resulted in the creation
of #C18, the “Baby Zep.”
In this case,
the Zeppelin Company
received 85% of all
the proceeds collected
by the U.S. Post Office.

Interesting aside:
Stamp collecting President
Franklin Delano Roosevelt
was furious the
American government and public
were funding a vessel
that was, by that time,
flying Nazi swastikas
on its tail fins.

Roosevelt would have quashed
the stamp if its issue
had not already been
internationally publicized.

Good evening all I hope that
you have found some time
today for stamping me I had
a little while be for I went to
the Doctor today I tell you
those Doctor's visit's are
sure getting old.

Plus just think of all the stamp
that I could buy if only I was in
good health I just might have to
get a job to suppurate my stamp
habit when all the Doctor bill start
rolling in that sure is one type of
mail that none of us like to get

and read, I would much more like
to get a pack of stamps then
any then else in the mail.

Tonight I showing what I believe
to be maybe just a label but then
guy's I am not real sure about that
either but I can tell you this what

Sharjah & Dependencies Postal Stamps.

Hello all I have got time now
for stamping and want to start
With these stamps above.

I got a Mix pack of stamps
this week and they had these
stamps in there from
Sharjah & Dependencies
And I have to tell you after
I see the stamps from this
country I wanted to know more
and see even more of the stamps.

I wanted to show the above three
because all tho I could not find out
much about the stamps other then
they are from sets of stamps.

And what I find odd about these
stamps is that there are two pictures
on the stamps and I get the space
part of the stamp, but what is the
other picture for I sure there is
some type of meaning to the
other side of these space stamps.

Are They For Real?

Is she for real?

Guy's I got the above stamp

in the mail the other day.

and I might just be wrong about

this but this stamp does not

look like a real stamp to me

I have seen this in the past but

the one I have seen did

not look like this at all.

to me this looks like something I

would print of the computer to

do some of my paper crafts.

if you will notice there is a

pen mark on this one and

there is no gum what so ever

on the back of this stamp at

all and boy does it ever feel

like a piece of paper.

I did get this from a stamp dealer

but in my heart I just don't feel

like it is a real stamp so can

someone that know more about stamp

please let me know if this stamp

was made in this form or not.

I did by this because I wanted to

share it with you all and just to

find out if it is a real stamp

I know that not holding it in

you hand makes it harder to say

if it is a real stamp or not.

I even have another one that just

does not seam like it is a real

stamps as well it is above with the

other one so I am asking for you

help guy's do I just have pieces of

paper or do I have stamps.

The O&W Bus

The O&W Bus

Oneida's Zeigler Beets poses in front of

the Oneida & Western Railroad's "Mail Bus,

as it was called, which once ran on the rail line

between Oneida and Jamestown Tennessee

for a number of years.

The O&W Railroad was begun in 1914 and

the last run on the line was made in 1954,

according to H. Clay Smith's

Dusty Bits of the Forgotten Past.

Railroad historian Mike O'Neal

says the "M-3" bus

wasn't used very long on O&amp;W;

they retired and disposed

of it by early 1940s after they

bought the larger

"M-4" Brill motorcar.

O'Neal says he thinks the "M-3"

was a 1935 Chevrolet(?) model.

Well for me this has got more meaning

then just the letter's that the "M-3"

delved but the family member that

might have got mail from the bus this is

just some of the odd stuff we research

at The Historical Society In Tennessee

And The Genealogical Society

In Kentucky.

Well know we know or at lest I do.

I got my Hattie McDaniel cover

Back this week and was real up set

to see the 4 Bars cancel in stead

of the Pictorial Cancel like on the

Cover Blow

I just don't feel like this is far

to collector's I am sure if

One was to take the time and
ask the collector

they would feel the same way I do.

That we want the Pictorial Cancel.

I just hope the USPS only does

us this way for this one stamp.

#573 $5 Head of Freedom Capitol Dome

Issued March 20th 1923

This Five Dollar stamp is considered

by many collectors

to be the most beautiful stamp ever issued by

the United States. It depicts

the statue of "America"

that tops the Capitol building in

Washington, DC.

The use of the blue and carmine colors

is especially striking.

The beauty comes through,

even with this used example.

No inverted stamps are known,

Even though the famous Inverted Jenny

Was printed just 5 years before

this stamp was introduced.

I sure by now you have maybe read

or have even seen the Video stamps that

so many people are talking about.

Well I got this in the mail to day and just

have to show it I am calling it a Video Cover

and you can see there are

two video stamps on the cover

the reason you don't see a address is because I

pulled off the address label and you wonder

why I am calling this a video cover it is because

It moves the man in jumping over the hulls.

This is just a trip to hold in you hand and look

at it and the stamps, in side the package was

some odd post card as well you can find

them here is you would like to see them.

Lenticular 3-D and Video Cinderella Stamps

Born Leonard Charles Huia Lye, (1901 1980)

proclaimed NZ Sculptor, Artist, Writer

and Film-maker extraordinaire

moving the word 'motion' up and down

as he stands at a window sill.

Len Lye was particularly famous

for his colour films

produced in the 1930's,

as well as his 'direct' films -

films that didn't involve a camera,

but instead, scratched designs on

the film to give a dramatic effect.

C3 Blank Cachets

C3 Cachets is one cachet maker that I found

in my search to find out where to get

Blank Cachets.

The above photo is the cachets that

JOHN CROPPER

did for the Lunar New Year stamps

I really like these cachets he did one

for each of the 12 animals in the

Chinese New Year.

So I guess I will use the four sets of stamps

that was finely shipped out today on these cover.

This is the cachet he did for the

Hattie McDaniel issue

another nice cover I think.

and best of all John puts the back of the

cover to good use with Information about

the stamp subject

Born in Wichita, Kansas to Baptist preacher

Henry McDaniel (who was born into slavery as a

field hand on a Virginia plantation) and Susan
Holbert,

a singer of religious music. McDaniel made her

first appearance in motion pictures in 1932.

She spent much of her twenty-year

career playing maids,

mainly owing to the paucity of roles available to

African American actresses.

She has been quoted as saying,

"Why should I complain about making

$7,000 a week playing a maid?

If I didn't, I'd be making $7 a week being one.

" It was one such role, that of Mammy

in Gone with the Wind (1939)

Opposite Vivien Leigh and

Clark Gable

that she won the Academy Award

for Best Supporting Actress on

February 29, 1940

making her the first

African American performer

to win an Oscar.

Well I have looked around the

new site and it is the same old stuff.

What I would like to know where is the

I did get some mailings this week from

the USPS telling one you can buy stamps

online well we know about that why could

they had not taking some of those post

I got more then my share of those post cards

sense Tuesday I have got one every day so

if I get another one tomorrow I will have got

five of those cards in the mail this week.

Well I have yet to find any thing in it

that has caused my heart to pumping

with joy because it is just not there

and it is not on the new web site either.

Give us the stuff that people find at there

local post office's and the stuff we not

find at our local Post Office's.

A way to track a order even if we phone

the order in so one don't have to be

on hold for 20 minutes to just find out

that you have not shipped there order

out and just what might be holding up

the order.

They say that the USPS Store brings

your local post office to you if that

is the case then they need to bring it.

And offer online shoppers the very same

items that only a few Post office's

around get.

for what ever reason I feel like if you can

buy one item from any signal post office

In the United States then any one should

be able to find and buy it at there online

store witch is not the case at all.

In fact I have only been able to find one thing

like the Super Bowl Cover.

And it is a 1998 National Champions Cover

of Tennessee Volunteers.

And I only have it because of a trip to the local

post office in the next state Tennessee.

Had went in to pick up a new key for the

post office box and looked on the back wall

and seen them, The Oneida postmaster

had got the cover's from a

Postmaster down in Knoxville.

OK guy's that enough for now just some

thoughts about being Philatelic Crazy.

Reading The Mail.

You know I just love it when the

Mail comes and he has a load

for me, because there just might

be something in that pill of mail

that will feed my Stamp habit.

And let there be mail with the above

type of post mark & stamps well you

guess it that these type of mail get

opened first because that means that

there is something good in side.

May be stamps or just a letter from

a friend in another country the above

photo is from a friend that lives in Norway.

and yes there was some great stamps

inside hours of fun for sure.

Then the next to get opened up is the

Letter that don't use stamps at all they

use meter mail post mark letting one

know that they have paid to use the meter

to stamp there mail to be send out.

And some of them are nice marks

to not be a stamp.

And guess what I can show you these meter

marks because I have a box full of them

Over 1 LB of them I weight them for this post.

Now I know you are asking you self why

would any one want to keep those?

I keep them for my crafts yes crafts the meter

marks will make a nice book cover they are fun

to use in one's scrap booking or if you want to be

real bold you can use them like I did I found a old

table at the used junk store got it home and went

to work on it and now I have a very nice little

table with meter mail post marks as the top of the

table a odd piece but very useful.

Then we all get these types of mail all the time

and god how I wish that they would change the

stamps for this type of mail I am so sick of seeing

these stamps that one all most want's to scream

I have so many of these stamps do you need some

if so just let me know and I will be more the glad to

share them with you just ask for them.

way I read my mail I look at the post marks first

then every thing else about the letter.

Why Only to Registered Dealers

I would like to ask why do

Registered Dealers get the

Pictorial Cancel.

And we the collector don't

this does not seem Far at all.

I have read a lot about this in the last

few day's and I am just wonder if

Registered Dealers will be the only one's

to get a pictorial cancel on there FDC.

I wonder about all this because of a article

That appeared in the January 23rd

issue of Linn's on page ten.

"A four-bar first-day-of issue machine

postmark will be applied to all

mail-in requests for first-day covers

starting with the first United States

commemorative stamp issue in 2006."

As you can tell from the top photo that I

got the standard 4 bar cancel FDOI.

I did get the pictorial cancel for the

Favorite Children's Book Illustrations

But I am just wonder if this will be the

only pictorial cancel that I will get for

cover's I send in to have them canceled

This year.

Will they be standard 4 bar cancel FDOI?

I guess that USPS think you are a Dealer

if you submit 50 or more cover to be

Canceled I do 10 to 20 covers for each

Issue if there is just one stamp in the issue

then ten of the covers are with a cachet

and 5 to ten are just blank envelopes.

Yes I still do cover with just plain white

envelopes I guess that is because that is

what I started collecting when I started FDC.

And in fix up my own cover using blank cachet

For the Favorite Children's Book Illustrations

I Used 80 cachet And 16 blank envelopes

so that was a total of 96 cover that I wanted

to get canceled and one collector can send

in 50 cover with out having to pay to get the

cancel and I was doing 96 cover so they went

off some in my name some in my

sister and mother's name.

I am by no means a stamp Dealer I am just a

collector I have never sold one cover I trade

cover's with other around the world And in the

short time I have been collecting them I have

learned that people would mush more like the

cover's with a cachet on them then just

a blank envelopes.

If a Blank Cover is all that you wanted then

those are easy got from USPS.

And if you want it to have a cachet you don't

have to many choice's that I know of to get

with out having to put out a lot of cash

for the cover.

One can find and get blank cachet for as low

as 79¢ each plus the price of the stamp or

stamps and you can get a FDC for around

$1.96¢ with a cachet, a blank envelope with

just the stamp and the post mark is

77¢ from USPS with a 39¢ stamp.

So I guess in May all stamp collector that

Submit Cover to have canceled for

The Wonders of America set.

We will be come stamp Dealer's

there is 40 stamps in the set just the 10

away from the 50 be for the USPS say you

Are a Dealer so I guess that even if I was to

only do two set that will be 80 cover and

from they way I understand it over 50 cover

and they want you to pay something like 5¢

a cover over the 50.

So when it comes to this set I just Wonder

how I will get a couple of set with out having

to pay 5¢ over the 50 and there is supposed to

be a Pictorial Cancel for this set.

So I am as a collector going to have to

The Pictorial Cancel and enough cover to

get my self a set and a couple of set's

To trade with other.

All of this makes me Wonder about our

America Post Service.

Are they doing the every day collector

Benny's fans seek stamp of approval

Letters and an online petition seemed
at first like a fine way to get Jack Benny
the comic who always claimed to be
39 years old on a 39-cent stamp.
But the woman trying to push one of Waukegan,
Ill.'s most famous sons into the upper-right corner
of U.S. mail is changing tactics, turning instead to political
muscle. U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk, R-Ill., whose district includes
Waukegan, said he is already on board and
plans to lobby the U.S. Postal Service.

Last Tuesday, which would have been Benny's
112th birthday, Laura Leff, president of
the International Jack Benny Fan Club,
also lobbied the offices of Illinois Sens.
Barack Obama and Dick Durbin
after leading a "39 Man March"
of about 10 people - from the
Washington Monument to the U.S. Capitol.
She's already talking like a savvy political pro.

"We're hoping for positive and broad
bipartisan support," said Leff, 36,
who founded the fan club when she was 10.
"One thing that's clear is you definitely
need political connections."

Despite a letter-writing campaign at
Jack Benny Middle School and an online petition
that has attracted 3,200 names,
Leff said people who have landed celebrities
on stamps told her that success comes not
from grass-roots efforts but having influence on your side.
Leff can use all the help she can get.

Among several hurdles, the largest appears to be
Benny's presence on a 29-cent stamp
in the early 1990s as part of a
series honoring comedians.
Postal Service rules say a person can be
honored with a stamp every 50 years.

Also, Leff is trying to get him on the stamp
before the rates change - a likely window of no
more than a few years. Stamp images for 2006
have already been announced, and
2007 images have been chosen but not
yet approved by the postmaster general,
postal spokeswoman Frances Frazier said.

"Not to say he won't be considered in the future,
but they're already working on the
2008-09 program," Frazier said.

Kirk, who did not attend the 39 Man March,
said he would write a letter to
the Citizens' Advisory Stamp Commission,
possibly suggesting that they honor Benny
in another series of stamps for comedians.

Kirk said he is joining the effort because
Benny reflects "the spirit of our area."
"He had a very self-effacing manner
that fits the Midwest," he said.
Leff said she is hoping for a resolution
in the House of Representatives
in support of the stamp,
but Kirk said that is unlikely.

"If it increases the chances of it happening,
I'll do it. But what I'm told is the letter is a better way,
" he said. "Getting them to work with your
idea is a lot easier than getting an act of Congress."

Frazier said the political alliances are
unlikely to sway the stamp advisory panel,
which recommends to the postmaster general
approximately 25 of the 50,000 suggestions
that come in every year.

"They would not print a new stamp just
because someone (of power) says
they wanted it," Frazier said.
"I would definitely say they make their choice
based solely on what they believe
is the best stamp for that year."

I do from time to time but for me

I go by what the post mark look's like

Or if it is done in a town or state

That I want to collect.

The photo of the above cover is

A First day of sale.

Would this be the same as a

First day of issue?

This one above I like it because

I found just the right looking

Stamp for it.

I like to collect them but I all so

Try my best to find stamps that

Will go with the post mark

Witch is not all way so easy.

All so if you will look at the cover

Close enough you will see that

Is not even canceled.

And on the other one the postmark

Only canceled out one of the stamp.

Where are the Lunar New Year Stamps?

Lunar New Year Cachets
And no stamps to add to them.

I wonder just how many other are having
trouble getting the stamps as well.
My local post office does not have them.

And they was issued on Jan 29th So I
have been calling my post master every day
sense Monday Jan 30th in hope's that he has
got his supple of stamps in but to date he does not.

So when he did not have them on February 3rd
I called and placed a order for the Lunar New Year
and some other stamps as well that is when I found out
that some of the Dates was wrong in the
Philatelic Catalog on when some of the stamp
was being issued and would be for sale.

Well guess what I ordered the stamps on the 3rd
and they charged my card for the stamp on the 4th
and to date they still have not sent out my order.

I was on the phone with this mooring and that is how
I found out that some of the dates was wrong
in the catalog and learned that they still have not
shipped my order as of yet.

You know I just don't understand it last fall when
I would place a order with them it only took a few
Days not week's but sense the first of the year
every order I have placed has taking week's
Instead of the 7 to 10 day like they tell you.

OK I know you are wonder why I am so up set
It is because I have a 144 blank cachets for
The Lunar New Year Stamps.
Some are from ArtCraft and then some
will be from a new Cachet maker that
I found right here in Kentucky c3 Cachets.

And it's getting Close to the one month dead
To get the postmark for the stamps.

And don't try and call the USPS to find out
if the are going to extend the dead line
I was on the phone Friday for over 45 minutes
being put on hold, then from one person to
the next trying to find out, and the only thing
I got from the phone call was being even more
Up set because what if they don't extend the dead
Line I will have a lot of cachets and $$$ money
that I have all ready put out just for the cachets
That will not be any good as you can see from the
Photo the cachets are for the
Lunar New Year Stamps.

Guy's has any thing like this happened in the past with
A stamp issued and people not able to get them.

Hello all I have missed posting for you all.

I was under the weather yesterday with one

of those Old Migraine so I was just out of

Stamp Collecting.

I don't have a stead hand so
When it come to putting my
Stamps on my cover.
I was not all ways getting
Them on there straight.

So being the crazy person I am
I though there has to be a better
way at getting the stamps in about
the Same spot every time.

And this is what I came up with

Just lay it on top of your
Envelopes and you then know
just where to put the stamp.
